The vocational school was first founded in 1988 under the name “Ege University Usak Vocational School” to train qualified textile technicians. The education was started with “Textile (weaving)” programme. It was later renamed as E.U. Bornova Vocational School in 1993.
In 1996, the school was transferred to a new building that was built by Rüştü Akın Foundation and it was renamed as “E.U. Emel Akın Vocational School”.
Since academic year of 2009-2010, the school has been carried out its education services under “Apparel Production Technology”, “Fashion Design” and “Textile Technology” programmes. At the school, the workshops are furnished with all kinds of equipment used in the textile clothing industry, in addition to the computer laboratory and general-purpose classes on apparel production technology and fashion clothing programs.
The school currently continue to educate its students with the academic staff consist of 1 professor, 2 associate professors, 3 assistant professors, 11 lecturers and 6 research assistants.
